Deacon John received a B.S. in Physics from the University of Dayton and completed a program in International Management at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business.   John and his wife Nancy have four children scattered throughout the United States, eight wonderful grandchildren and are expecting their ninth next year.

Following a 34 year career in the international oil and gas industry which included assignments in London and Australia, John retired and enrolled in the Master of Divinity program at the University of St. Thomas School of Theology at St. Mary’s Seminary in Houston.  He was awarded a Master of Divinity in December of 2006.  John was accepted into the formation program for the Permanent Diaconate in 2002 and in 2007 Cardinal DiNardo ordained John and thirty-one other men for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.   In July of 2010 Deacon John completed a graduate certification in Health Care Ethics from St. Louis University.

Deacon John is Board Certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains and his principal ministry in Houston was Staff Chaplain at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital and Texas Children’s Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. John also coordinated and taught in a program designed to train Deacons for ministry in hospitals.  In addition, he was involved in developing and teaching in a parish based Archdiocese program to train laity to minister in local hospitals, nursing homes, and hospices.  John ministered at St. Theresa parish in Houston where he was involved in various aspects of parish life.

John and Nancy moved to Hot Springs Village in June of 2010 and Bishop Taylor has assigned him to serve in Sacred Heart of Jesus parish.
