Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church
Hot Springs Village, Arkansas
I continue to pray that more and more of you who participate in Mass here at Sacred Heart Church as parishioners will answer the call of your baptism to serve the Lord in both liturgical and other ministries. If you have misplaced or thrown away the sheet that listed the various liturgical ministries and that offer the opportunity to explore and/or sign up for at least one of these ministries, we will keep some in the Narthex and invite you to put them in the wooden box that now accepts not only monetary but also your "time and talent stewardship" to the Lord and His Church. Of all the ministries and activities, you can choose to be of service in this very active parish, the one that I say, (without hesitation) should be considered a priority for EVERYONE who is physically able to get to church (second only to participation in Mass at least once a week on Saturday evening or Sunday) is EUCHARISTIC ADORATION (hopefully for an hour or more) every week!! This is currently being done by around 370 Sacred Heart parishioners. The Lord is waiting for the rest of us to spend some quiet, prolonged time with Him. Most of our scheduled adorers (which we truly need to ensure that Jesus, exposed in the Monstrance is never left alone) spend at least one hour a week with Jesus in prayer, spiritual reading, or just being with the One we should love above everyone and everything in this world. More importantly is the reality that, while in the chapel, we have Jesus lookiong at us with the greatest love anyone could have for us.

In a few weeks, Bishop Taylor is going to give another audio homily in conjunction with the three-year Eucharistic Revival that has begun in the Church in the United States. We have gotten word that one subject he will be addressing and encouraging is Eucharistic Adoration. I hope you join me in giving thanks that we have Eucharistic Adoration going on in our parish twenty-one hours a day, seven days a week. This is, therefore, a great time for Catholics who are not doing so to start. It can be as a regular weekly Adorer (with another person there or covering for you when you can't come) or as a substitute (some of whom, thanks be to God, do more than once a week), or as one who stops by the chapel for 10, 15 or more minutes at any time (including before or after Mass). While coming or going, please check in the electronic pad (as regulars and substitutes always do). There is a place in the chapel for you to put prayer requests and another to write down favors received. What a blessing to know that not only you but others who come to the chapel are praying for the intentions and people you put there. I would also invite you to share the favors received from the Lord with me by email, either anonymously or by sharing with me who you are and I will find a place in the bulletin to share these. Blessings aplenty await those who prioritize this ministry to the Lord and for yourself and others. Consider contacting our new director, Kathy Clark 203-816-7737, to find out more and/or to sign up NOW!
