Members of our parish family have an opportunity again this year to "spiritually" adopt a child who was conceived earlier this month of May. Not all newly-conceived babies are allowed to be born. Over 2,000 babies lose their lives to abortion each day. It is these babies who are in danger, who you are asked to "adopt."As you read this, pick a name for your baby, giving the baby the humanity he or she deserves. Say short prayer each day for nine months for your unborn child and for all unborn children.
You will receive reports describing your baby's development, and your baby will be born in late January, 2020. At that time we will have a baby shower, and all parishioners will be invited to bring gifts. Those gifts will be donated to local pregnancy centers.
We are experiencing a steady decline in abortions, but the anger displayed by those in favor of abortion rights has increased. More than ever, prayers and loving actions such as this baby shower, are needed.
Remember to recycle your eyeglasses by dropping them in the Lions drop box next to the Postal Service mailbox on Balearic Road in front of our church grounds. 
Religious Education for Youth is looking for two teachers for the 2019-2020 school year. Third-fifth graders, on Wednesday nights from 6:00-7:00. Please prayerfully consider this rewarding ministry with the wonderful chlidren in our parish. All curriculum/teaching materials are supplied.

The Parish Office is open on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. As of January 1, 2019 the Office will be closing at 12:00 p.m. each Friday. Remember going to Confession once a month when you were a child? Do you now find yourself content to only go to the sacrament of Penance during Lent and Advent? If so, you are missing the chance for a moment of a real encounter with God.There are audios on formed.org which will remind you of the beauty of the sacrament of Penance. One is "Confession" by Father Larry Richards. While reminding us of God's loving mercy, he breaks down the Commandments and makes it easy to understand why Confession is necessary. Our parish collects Cancelled Stamps to benefit the funraising efforts of Sisters of the Holy Cross in Notre Dame, IN. They are able to sell the stamps to collectors/dealers and use those proceeds to benefit their "Ministry to the Poor." 
The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Assembly 2316, is sponsoring a Memorial Day Program and reception for all parishioners on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2019.The program will begin with a Patriotic Rosary at 8:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 9:00 and then a procession to the columbarium for a blessing of loved ones buried there. After the blessing, pastries, coffee and juice will be offered in the Upper Hall. Please contact faithful Navigator Gary Wolfer at 501-204-1192 with questions.
On Sunday, May 12, Mothers' Day, the Knights of Columbus would like to invite everyone to a Parish Breakfast. The menu includes Sausage and Eggs, biscuits, gravy, hash browns, and juice, coffee or milk. This breakfast is being underwritten by Jack and Jean Eatinger and Bud and Rose Campbell.Breakfast is only $6.00 a plate and as always, children 12 years and under eat free. All breakfast proceeds are used to help fund Knight charitable activities throughout the year. Your support is greatly appreciated. This will be our last breakfast for this fraternal year.
The Ladies of the Sacred Heart will host their Living Rosary and May Crowning of the Blessed Mother following 9:00 a.m. Mass, Monday, May 13. Please join us for this moving ceremony. Afterwards, our final meeting of the year will feature Brunch and Installation of Officers for the 2019-2020 year.

The last meeting of the 2018-19 year will be held on Tuesday, May 14, at 5:00 p.m. in the Lower Hall. As is our tradition, this meeting will include the wives or dates for the evening. Widows of deceased members are also invited.At 5:00 p.m. we will join others in the Upper Hall to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Social gathering will follow in the Lower Hall from 5:00 to 5:45 p.m. Dinner will be served before 6:00 p.m.
The program will be a game of trivia with prizes for the top three tables, so get your trivia expert friends together and reserve a table or just take your chances and sit at a table of smart-looking people. After the program, we will have a short business meeting, including the election of officers for the 2019-20 year.
The dinner for the evening will be salad, Flat-Iron steak, baked potato, rolls and butter, and ice cream and cookies for dessert. The cost of the dinner is $15 per person. This will be a sit-down dinner served by the staff of Chef Johnna's.

We will be showing the movie "Miracles from Heaven" on Wednesday, June 12 at 6:00 p.m. in the Lower Hall. Popcorn, soda pop and sweet snacks will be available for your enjoyment. It is a true story with a strong message of hope, healing and faith as a mother struggles with her daughter's illness of an incurable digestive disorder. Then the miracle. . . . . .

The Knights of Columbus from Village Council 10208 and Hot Springs Council 4619 are hosting a charity golf tournament to benefit the St. John's School Scholarship Fund. The tournament will be held at the HSV Magellan Golf Course on May 18, 2019 with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. The format will include a four-person scramble, and teams can be all male, all female or mixed. Lunch will be provided immediately after the tournament at the Balboa Pavilion. Entry fee is $85 per player. Lots of prizes, so get your team together soon.
