This weekend, June 17/18, our diocese will take up for this collection. Guiding and strengthening young people's faith involves helping them fully live through prayer, fellowship and service. This project, supported by funding from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishop's Church in Latin America program, has brought together 400 youth leaders for sessions on the Bible, Church history, teachings from opoe Francis and Vatican II, Christmas for impoverished youth and prison visits. When we support the Collection for the Church in Latin America, we make our Ctholic faith a living reality for youth in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Jesus is calling...will you answer and listen? Late afternoon can be a wonderful time to reflect and connect. The hour of need of an adorer is Thursday at 3:00 p.m. Also, many hours during the week have just one adorer. Ideally, two will share responsibilities for vacations and any other necessary absences. Please consider sharing the hour of midnight to 1:00 a.m. on Thursday mornings. Call or text Kathy Clark 203-816-7737 to enroll.
The 2023 Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Taste of Faith Dinner is scheduled for the evening of Friday, July 28. Proceeds and donations from this gala event support the Seminarians in our Diocese. Bishop Tay, Fr Jeff Hebert and several Seminarians will join us. Mark this event on your calendar now-- you don't want to miss it!
The Diocesan Shrine of the Divine Mercy will be dedicated Sunday, June 11, by Bishop Anthony Taylor following the 12:30 Mass at the Cathedral of St Andrew in downtown Little Rock. The participants then walk from the Cathedral to St Edward Church (about 1 mile) where the bishop will preside over blessing the new image of the Divine Mercy and lead the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy. He will then sign the decree creating the Diocesan Shrine. Benediction will conclude the event. Light refreshments will be provided. Everyone is invited to attend. Thereafter, the church and the Divine Mercy Shrine will be open.
Due to the heat of the summer, beginning May 31, we will discontinue the 5:00 p.m. Wednesday Mass until September. Mass on Wednesdays will be at 9:00 a.m. We will also discontinue the 9:00 a.m. Monday Mass (unless otherwise announced) so that Fr Bill can have his "day off" as all priests are encouraged to do! Note: we are having Mass this Monday at 9:00 a.m. (after the Patriotic Rosary at 8:15 a.m.) in celebration of Memorial Day.

The Sacred Heart Rosary Makers need your help for this very worthy ministry. We send rosaries, free of charge, around the world to any place that requests them including churches, hospitals, schools and convents. Each week that we meet we recite this prayer:

Dearest Mother
To you we pray,
Bless the rosaries we make today.
With loving hands we add each bead,
Then with trust in you we further plead.
Bless the ones in foreign lands,
Reach for them with outstretched hands,
And pray like we call for a world united
And peace for all.

Please join us after Mass on Thursday mornings. For more information, please call Marge Newburn at 501-922-9047.
This coming Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings (May 31, June 1 & 2) at 9:45 we will have our Parish Life, Education and Liturgy Commission meetings in Classrooms A & B. At these meetings, we discuss ministries and activities that fall under these commissions and make plans for the future in these areas. All parishioners are welcome to attend one or all of the meetings and see what is "going on."  We also encourage all pariohsioners to look up and read the meeting minutes at www.hsvsacredheart.com and stay informed! This is your parish and being more knowledgeable may be of help to you and others who you can inform on your own about the many blessings of this parish for those who are active in Mass and in other ways out of love for the Lord!!
"In our self-centered culture and classic American emphasis on work, we often feel we have to accomplish something during our time before the Blessed Sacrament. We rate our experience by how "good" our prayer was, how heartfelt our devotion...how focused we remain. yet prayer and contemplation are fundamentally God's work, in which we are invited to participate. We need only to give Him the opening and He will do the rest. By coming in adoration, we are handing HIm the keys to our hears, allowng the rays of His love and grace to bathe our souls in the light of His presence, as the rays of the sun bathe our bodies in light. If we take the time to pull away frm the busyness and distractions of life and just sit at His feet, he will lead us."
