Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church
Hot Springs Village, Arkansas
What an honor to carry the wine, hosts, and offerings at Mass for consecration. Gift Bearers actively participate in the celebration of the Mass by presenting the gifts of Bread and Wine at the Offertory. No special skill or permanent ministerial duty required. It enables us to appreciate how God invites man to participate in bringing to fulfilment his handiwork. Sign up in the white binder in the Narthex to be a part of this beautiful and significant part of Mass.
PEA:

"How to make a Holy Hour," a helpful resource as you spend time with the Lord and seek to grow in your relationship with him, can be found in the adoration chapel and on the table in the Narthex. Please pick up a copy!

WE continue to look for one person, or a group of people, wanting to share the hours of 1 - 3 am on Sundays. Get together with another couple or two, alternate/Share and hour and receive the blessings that result.

We continue to need subs for any hours you are able to offer during the summer months. Contact Kathy Clark 203 816-7737 to enroll.
We the people of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish welcome you to our Catholic, Christian community in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We all believe our mission is to live and nurture our faith by:
                                                     Worshipping, Praying,
                                                          Serving, Sharing,
                                                          Healing, Loving,
                                                                Together.
"What Catholic Believe" is a recently added feature on Formed. It answers some of the internet's most asked questions. This feature has added many more discussions, usually lasting 15 minutes or less. Various church scholars answer questions about the beliefs of the Catholic Church. Examples are: "Are Catholics Cannibals?" and "Do you have to listen to EVERY thing the Pope says?" These short programs will help prepare you when you are asked questions regarding our religion. Go to www.FORMED.org  to register as a SHJ parishioner for a free subscription.
Our SHJ "Fit'n Balance" class, every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 am in the Lower Hall, focuses on balance, strength & light to moderate aerobic activity. We also offer Chair Stretch & Balance (in the Lower Hall) and Mat Yoga (Upper Hall) on those same days at 11:30 am. Having good balance is an important way to help prevent falls, and there are many benefits to regular exercise, especially as we age. Physical activity along with a healthy diet are two of the most important lifestyle factors that help us age gracefully. Finding an exercise program that is fun and engaging is essential to help create a lasting habit. Now that May has arrived, this is a reminder that the entry deadline for the 16th annual Knights of Columbus Charity Golf Tournament is coming up on June 1. As in the past, the month before the tourney is hectic with LOTS of entries coming in so please DO NOT WAIT as we have had numerous teams that waited too long and were unable to play. This is one of our largest fund raisers and it seems to be growing annually. Also, we can always use more parishioners to be sponsor/donors for this event. The students at St. John's School in Hot Springs benefit greatly from the money raised. Forms available at hsvsacredheart.com, hsvkofc.com or contact Scott Krantz 512 626-7711 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
This week on the sixth Sunday of Easter, Formed helps us to prepare for next week's "The Ascension of the Lord" with two offerings on Tim Gray's Augustine Institute Show. Take a half hour and prepare for the Ascension with one or more of these discussions. PEA:

Check out the PEA notebook in the Narthex to see what fellow parishioners say about their time in the chapel. Evening adorer Jim Bergstrom says, "...when I am in His presence at adoration, I have His complete attention. He listens to me...and is glad that I am in His presence. ...I leave with a calm within my heart that is tremendously refreshing. He will do the same for you if you are willing to give Him the gift of your time."

We continue to look for one or a group to share/alternate the hours of 1 - 3 am on Sundays and receive the blessings that result.
