We are putting together a team of walkers for the annual Village Cancer Walk, September 27, 2014 at 7:30 a.m., and would like you to be a part of our group. No distance is required. You can walk a few feet or five miles. Free fruit, coffee and water will be available before the walk and free hamburgers and hot dogs will be available after the walk, even if you don't leave the pavilion. The registration fee is $30 before August 1 which includes a free tee shirt. After August 1, the cost increases to $35. The goal for 2014 is to register 600 walkers and raise $43,000 from sponsors, walkers, a silent auction, bake sale and from donations. Our Church Ministry Team would like Sacred Heart to have a good-size team for this special event. Before the walk, each group will have a group photo taken, so come and be a part of this wonderful event!Please complete the registration form found in the narthex and send it, along with your check, to the address at the bottom of the form. Your baby will be completely formed by the end of the third month. He may have begun moving his hands, legs, and head and opening and closing his mouth. He is still too small for you to feel the movement. His fingers and toes are now more distinct and have soft nails. His hands are more developed than the feet, and his arms are longer than the legs. Your baby's head is quite large compared to the rest of his body. Hair may have started to form on the head. Tooth buds have formed under your baby's gums. By the end of this month, the umbilical cord, which carries nutrients to your baby and takes wastes away, will be fully formed. Please continue to pray for this special child of God.

Meet in the Upper Hall, and bring your driver's license, your AARP card, and a check made payable to AARP for $15 each for AARP members and $20 each for non-members. Tom Henry, the farmer from Guy, Arkansas, will be here every Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. He sets up under the trees in the lower parking lot with all kinds of fresh home-grown fruits and vegetables. Peaches this year are large and juicy. Come and enjoy the best of the frowing season in Arkansas! 
The Sacred Heart Singles will be touring Forest Path Gallery, Thursday, August 7, to view the work of Gene Sparling and his "Wonder Bowls". The group will meet at the church at 1:30 p.m., and will carpool to Hot Springs. Following the tour the Singles will enjoy a meal at the Longhorn Steak House. Sign-up sheets are in the narthex. The mother-to-be couldn't attend in person, too full of sorrow to join in the shower with burial of the baby's father upcoming in two days. Gathered together with all the presents, the story of this neighbor in need was told to the women present. A special prayer written by Deacon John, a blessing for both the mother and the baby, was recited. It reflected the power of God's love and the power of practicing to love one's neighbor in very real terms.
With this shower, our recipient neighbor felt the love of women she did not know in her time of sorrow and loss as well as new beginnings and new joy in the anticipated birth of a son. She felt the balm of neighborly love and prayer and generosity help her overcome the pain of her loss, as we, the participants, felt the gift of love flowing out from our organization in praise of our God and our faith. May we all continue the prayers for this neighbor that she may continue to feel the love of the Father reach into her heart and into all the hearts of good neighbors everywhere. Parishioners numering three hundred gathered together to celebrate the feast day of Sacred Heart of Jesus. This Mass was also an opportunity for many to receive the sacrament of the sick. Father Bill invited three other priests to concelebrate. The priests included retired Monsignor Bernard Malone, Fr. Innocent from Hot Springs and Father Y.C. from Benton. Following the Mass, the throng shared a fine meal prepared by Johnna Westerman and served by the Parish Life Team. Generous sponsors donated prizes given away by playing Bingo. A good time was had by all! 
Your adopted Unborn Baby is now two months old and is less than an inch long. By the end of the second month, all of your baby's major body organs and body systems, including the brain, lungs, liver and stomach, have begun to develop. The first bone cells appear during this time. Eyelids form and grow but remain sealed shut. The inner ear is forming. Ankles, toes, wrists, fingers and sexual organs are developing. At the end of the second month of pregnancy, your baby looks like a tiny human infant. Please continue to pray for this special child of God.  |

After the American Legion Post 123/VFW Post 10483 Honor Guard posted the colors, Legion member Garry Berry led the gathering in the Pledge of Allegiance. Dennis Zymboly then provided a brief history of the U. S. Flag and invited those who were interested to join him after the ceremony to see and hear the various stages of our flag.
Jimmy Weber of the Sons of the American Revolution gave a brief talk on his colonial attire and ties to the Revolution, then introduced Bill Wood who presented a certificate of recognition to Sacred Heart for its flag display around the church on national holidays. Accepting the certificate was Valerie Hartnett, wife of Bill Hartnett who is responsible for the flag program.
The highlight of the Flag Day event was a musical celebration of the flag led by Lynne Border and members of the Sacred Heart Choir. For each song a short history of its creation was presented, followed by the singing of the song. Selections were from various eras and written for various reasons but all focused on the flag. Songs included "The Star Spangled Banner," "Stars and Stripes Forever," It's a Grand Old Flag," "There's a Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere," and "The Ragged Old Flag." Every piece was enjoyed, with some bringing tears to attendee's eyes.
A 50/50 drawing was held, with proceeds to the Knights of Columbus Flags Forever Program. American Legion Chaplain Rev. Burle Mattingly gave the closing benediction. The event was sponsored by the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, VFW and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. In addition, to the sponsors, D.A.R., S.A.R, members of the church and the widows of deceased Knights provided food under the leadership of Jean Dobes.

Our library has books, DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes and puzzles for children. Need other ideas? Our own parishioner, Anne Dierks, has written a book entitled "Granny Camp" with lots of great ideas for entertaining children. That book is featured just inside the library on your left, along with a book for teens and a book with children's Bible stories. The library is located just to the left before you enter the Chapel. 
Join us for Movie Night on Wednesday, July 30, at 6:30 p.m. in the Lower Hall. The movie that will be showing is "Heaven is for Real". When four-year-old Colton Burpo made it through an emergency appendectomy his family was overjoyed at his miraculous survival. What they weren’t expecting, though, was the story that emerged in the following months—a story as beautiful as it was extraordinary, detailing their little boy’s trip to heaven and back. Refreshments will be served. 
This Sunday will be the last weekend the Knights of Columbus will be selling tickets for the Seafood Feast dinner. This event will benefit The House of Formation building expansion project. The dinner is on Thursday, July 17, and begins at 5:00 p.m. Only 47 tickets remain to be sold. Seating is limited and once we are sold out, there are no more tickets available. Please do not wait until the last minute. This is a sit-down, waiter served dinner complete with keyboard dinner music by Larry Lintau of Malvern. It promises to be a memorable evening and a superb meal for all for only $18 per person. See you there. 
Due to the inclement weather on June 9, the "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" trip had to be rescheduled. A replacement game has been arranged for Monday, July 28. There have been some cancellations due to the date change; so, if you did not sign-up for the June 9 date and would like to attend on July 28, please send your check for $36 per person to Buddy Dixon, 5 Sur de Curso Lane. 
The collection dates for July are Wednesday, July 16, and Saturday, July 19, both from 9:00 a.m. to noon, in the Lower Hall. The Treasure Sale will be held on Friday and Saturday, September 26/27. Your donations are welcome and appreciated.
